La Digue Seychelles, the third inner island after Mahé and Praslin, is an island to be discovered at its own pace. The best way to explore it is by bicycle, along paths lined with tropical vegetation and surrounded by iconic landscapes. Here, there is no need to fill your days with activities: simply take the time to look around, breathe and enjoy.
L’Union Estate, at the Heart of Creole Heritage
At L’Union Estate, discover the traditional Creole house. Also visit the giant tortoises at the foot of the enormous granite boulder and the small copra mill, reminders of Seychellois heritage and traditions.
Anse Source d’Argent and Its Iconic Landscapes
A little further on, Anse Source d’Argent reveals its famous granite boulders, turquoise waters and unique scenery. Although the beach is now very busy, it remains a must-see place to admire the natural beauty of La Digue.
Grand Anse at La Digue Seychelles, an Authentic Experience
But to truly experience the soul of the island, you must also take the time to make your way to Grand Anse. By bicycle, you have to climb the small hill, but what a wonderful way to discover this island! Follow the paths lined with tropical almond trees, takamaka trees and mango trees…
Finally, you arrive at the beach. It offers a wilder setting. A vast stretch of sand and a sometimes powerful sea — this is Grand Anse. This is where I experienced one of my most enjoyable memories during my last visit to La Digue.
Seated beneath the thatched shelter of the Creole restaurant, with my feet in the sand and the sea in the background, I enjoyed grilled fish prepared in the Seychellois style. Of course, it was accompanied by traditional Creole dishes. This is Creole tradition: meals are served with spicy accompaniments. We love green papaya chutney, mango salad and giraumon pumpkin chutney to accompany the fish…
The restaurant, simple and authentic, offered exactly what we come to the Seychelles to experience: local flavours, a natural setting and a genuine moment.
La Digue Seychelles is also about this. Exceptional landscapes, but above all, simple moments that remain in our memories for a long time. A lunch by the sea, a bicycle ride or a few hours spent at Grand Anse! These moments can sometimes offer an experience as precious as a stay in an exceptional villa.
La Digue Seychelles is discovered without haste, between Creole heritage, iconic beaches and untamed beauty.
